Geoscience Australia
Terralink International produces mapping for Geoscience Australia, the Federal Government's national mapping agency. Terralink International is one of five companies on the panel of service providers to Geoscience Australia.
There are approximately 500 map sheets at 1:250,000-scale covering Australia. Terralink continues to win the largest number of Geoscicence contracts, and has an envious record of completing projects on time and of the highest standard.
The project requires supply of topographic data and maps, produced using data sourced from several State and Territory mapping agencies, and the formation of a seamless map database spanning eight UTM zones.
The production tasks include:
- creating a digital database of the map area;
- conversion of hardcopy map layers;
- upgrading existing GIS datasets;
- geodetic datum adjustment;
- revision of topographic features and vegetation mapping using SPOT and Landsat satellite imagery;
- cartographic map composition; and
- writing of film colour separations for printing.
All work is prepared to comprehensive specifications using a digital process based on ArcInfo GIS. |
