Terrain
This layer is a unique collection of digital terrain models (DTM), contours and digital elevation models (DEM) which have been created over the majority of the country, NZ MasterMapTM - Terrain has a typical DTM specifications of +/- 0.5m for urban and +/-5m for rural which allows for superior contour generation when compared to the LINZ data (which has a specification of +/- 12.5m and provides 20m contours). In addition, NZ MasterMapTM - Terrain is a significantly more recent dataset meaning that we have the confidence to say that NZ MasterMapTM - Terrain is the most complete, up to date and accurate national data set of its kind in New Zealand. Additional information is also available to meet advanced requirements for relief information.
Fit for purpose:
This layer is great for planning when you need to know the heights of roads, hills, land parcels and more. Also useful when you need to visualise or model terrain. When a higher level of accuracy and more up to date data is required than the official LINZ data, then NZ MasterMapTM - Terrain is the right choice.
