Quick information for home buyers
10 November 2003A new property information website will give home buyers the chance to park outside and use their laptop and mobile connection to dial up all the relevant information on boundaries, rates and valuation before stepping out of their car. Terralink International CEO Mike Donald says the new version of the company's Terranet property information website means buyers will have all the information at their fingertips so they can make quick decisions in the current buoyant market. "It aims to assist anyone interested in buying or selling property in this very competitive market and recognises the need for users wanting information quickly and with a minimum of hassle," he says. The Terranet site (www.terranet.co.nz) provides access to aerial photography of properties so that buyers can easily identify property boundaries and get a look at what lies over the fence. Another report details recent sales in the same area, giving the address, value and date of sales to help buyers understand the potential market value. There are also online reports of title, survey and valuation information as well as legal document ordering services. Terranet can deliver a copy of legal title by email within 30 minutes. Another function gives access to market rent statistics and other community profile information. Powerful search engines make it easier to find information even when scant detail of the property is known. Mr Donald says Terranet offers one of the most comprehensive sets of property information available in New Zealand. While there is a cost involved, Mr Donald says users save time because they don't have to visit council offices to search for rates and sales information and they can purchase online. "There is an initial free report to ensure the correct property is being checked and then consumers pay only for the information they need. We don't bundle it into packages." Terranet holds about 1.5 million addresses and imagery over major urban areas. This is being constantly extended to cover remaining areas, including some rural properties not yet included. "In today's market consumers are more interested in the property market and want to be more informed when making decisions. This new site gives them a one stop shop for land and property information as quickly as they need it," he says. |
