Wellington Region Organisations in the running for Premier IT Awards

A number of Wellington region organisations are in the running for top honours in New Zealand’s premier IT awards, the Computerworld Excellence Awards, after being named as finalists this week.

The Wellington region based finalists in these prestigious national IT awards are:

  • Computers in Homes
  • CWA New Media
  • Horowhenua Library Trust
  • Inland Revenue Department
  • Institute for Geological and Nuclear Sciences
  • Maori Language Commission – Te Taura Whiri I Te Reo Maori
  • P & A Construction
  • Terralink International
  • Wellington Girls’ College

The Computerworld Excellence Awards were instigated to showcase the achievements of New Zealand’s IT sector and recognise the contribution IT plays in growing New Zealand businesses.

Judges commented on the quality of entries, saying they improved every year, making the choice of finalists an increasingly difficult task.

“The Awards are growing in prestige and visibility every year and Computerworld is delighted to be the means by which successful projects and the top performers amongst New Zealand's IT professionals are recognised and rewarded,” says Anne Simpson, organiser of the awards.

Entries came from organisations ranging from small country schools through to New Zealand’s largest corporates says Ms Simpson. “The range of entries shows how much energy and innovation there is across the board in the IT field in New Zealand.  The Awards are growing in prestige and visibility every year and Computerworld is delighted to be the means by which successful projects and the top performers amongst New Zealand's IT professionals are recognised and rewarded.
 
The winners in thirteen categories will be announced on June 25.
