Terralink opens up access to land and property information
26 October 2005
Wellington geographic intelligence company Terralink International has released a new land and property information application, Terraview Platinum, that gives access to more comprehensive land and property information off-the-shelf than ever before.
Mike Donald, Terralink International Managing Director, says the Terraview Platinum will bring a new level of effectiveness to professionals working in every Kiwi land and property related business.
“This is the most comprehensive collection of professional land and property information in one place available off-the-shelf in New Zealand. We’re already getting reports of huge time and money savings as customers get desktop-access to information they previously had to source from numerous different places,” he says.
The comprehensive land and property information in Terraview Platinum includes property boundaries and dimensions, legal descriptions, owners’ name and certificate of title references, addresses, building consents, valuation references, aerial imagery, topographical maps, street maps, satellite-based land cover classifications featuring 43 vegetation types, official boundaries of cities and council areas. To ensure the information is current, updates for key property layers are available monthly, quarterly or six-monthly. For users who require the very latest information, Terraview Platinum features built-in internet connectivity to access up-to-the-minute data.
Terraview Platinum also allows users to export data and print customised reports – including maps tailored with the creator’s comments and logos.
Early users of the new application have noticed immediate benefits. Bob Lendrum of Upper Hutt surveying and civil engineering firm RE Lendrum and Associates, is seeing a tangible bottom line improvement. “Terraview Platinum has opened up a whole new world for us. It’s saving us time and money and helping us give better service to our clients,” he says.
Bob says the impact on the performance of his team of 10 has been immediate.
“The content with biggest impact on us has been the aerial imagery, 1:50,000 topo maps, and the ability to export information to autoCAD. Those features are already saving us time and money, and helping us give better service to our clients,” he says.
Bob says the aerial imagery means he can make a virtual site visit from the office, which saves between one and three hours per job – the time it used to take to complete an initial site visit.
Terraview Platinum also contains national coverage of 1:50,000 topographical maps. Bob says having the maps in electronic format has opened up new possibilities for producing reports
“We’re producing reports now that were virtually impossible before. We can turn map layers on or off and produce customised maps in full colour according to what each customer needs. And we can download the maps into other programmes and add our own comments and our logo,” he says.
