Birds eye view of New Zealand available for the first time13 October 2006Geographic IQ company Terralink International has released New Zealand’s first off-the-shelf desktop software package to bring high resolution aerial photography of almost the entire country to computer desktops. Terraview Platinum with Aerial is a land and property information package that gives users access to Terralink’s extensive library of high-resolution aerial imagery in addition to multiple layers of land and property information. The aerial photos will be made available in regional council areas over the next few months. Initially Auckland and Canterbury have been released. Other layers in Terraview Platinum include property boundaries, owners names, valuation number details, street maps, house addresses, topographical maps and land use classifications. Terraview Platinum Aerial gives users the ability to check legal details and make virtual site visits from the office. The extensive database of aerial photographs also allows the official geospatial records to be checked against reality – a process that often yields surprising results, according to Terralink Managing Director Mike Donald. “It’s amazing how many buildings encroach on a neighbour’s boundary, and how many paper roads are nowhere near the actual road. If you’re undertaking any professional project, it’s absolutely essential to check the aerial record,” he said. Terralink International is offering group seminars and individual demonstrations of the package. To find out more check out www.terralink.co.nz. |
