Terralink International's Landbase

Terralink International maintains one of the most up-to-date and comprehensive physical spatial databases in New Zealand.

Landbase is Terralink International's comprehensive, multi-layered, database of physical land geographic features.

Landbase consists of line work, polygons and attribute data incorporating accurate road, rail, water and physical property boundaries and boundaries, interpreted from photogrammetric mapping and Smallworld GIS.

Landbase themes include:

  • Address Points and attribution;
  • Hydrographic boundaries and attribution;
  • Property Boundaries and attribution;
  • Road Centrelines and attribution; and
  • Road Formation Edges and attribution.

Spatial aspects in urban areas are generally derived from using our comprehensive aerial imagery, that is processed to have dimensions as accurate as a map. In rural areas the New Zealand Core Record System (CRS) has been adopted and enhanced. Spatial attributes have been sourced from the CRS, Territorial Local Authorities, 3rd-party organisations or field survey. Positional accuracy is dependent on method of capture:

  • Major towns and city ±0.5 metres relative accuracy;
  • Minor towns and peri-urban ±5 metre accuracy; and
  • Rural areas <25 metre accuracy.

Terralink International are currently undertaking their national imagery acquisition project which will result in seamless coverage over 100% of New Zealand. This will achieve a greater accuracy in all rural areas.

Landbase is being constantly maintained and validated by ortho corrected aerial photography, field checking and third party data sources, including local government, to ensure the most timely accurate and complete road centre line and address database available in New Zealand. A maintenance team are continually collecting, updating and performing quality assurance functions on the Landbase data.
