17 May, 2006

Terralink International has won the 2006 Wellington Cyber Gold Award, recognising innovation, leadership and sustained growth in the information and communications sector.

The Wellington Region Gold Awards in association with The Dominion Post have become firmly established as a recognition and celebration of the leading businesses in our region. Each year, the process begins with nominations from the public which are then evaluated by a judging panel of regional business and community leaders. Ultimately the winners are revealed at the glamorous Awards night, held in The Events Centre Wellington.

Terralink's Managing Director, Mike Donald, says Terralink International is proud to be a Wellington company.

“We do business around the world and have an office in Auckland. But our headquarters is in Wellington and will always stay here. We’re proud of our town and to be a winner in the Wellington Gold Awards,’” he says.

FRST Technology Commendation AwardFRST Technology

August 2005

The Technology Commendation Awards were established in 1999 to publicly recognise companies that have developed or applied new technology that has grown their business and benefited New Zealand.

Terralink International has been recognised, with the FRST Technology commendation award, for our  technology to rapidly obtain high-quality satellite images.

Terralink's latest technology platform - high resolution satellite imaging technology - has large international applicability.

The new technology allows processing of a wide range of satellite images with different resolutions, which can compete on a par with aerial photographs taken from an aircraft, the current gold-standard.

Advantages of obtaining images from satellites rather than aircraft are numerous: satellites circle the globe constantly; can capture images anywhere in the world (they are not constrained by territorial boundaries) and do not require physical resources to be on the ground.

Terralink can now process satellite images very quickly and produce highly accurate images for further data extraction and image analysis. The resulting images are better quality than the satellite images they are comprised of and contain more than just visual information. For example, an image produced of a forest area could show up "hot spots" of fire damage using infrared data.
