Terraview is licensed software, which is required to be registered with Terralink before it is fully functional. All users are required to to accept the terms and conditions of this licensing and the terms of use of the product.
The First Supply
Upon receiving the first supply, you have 14 days to register Terraview by contacting the Terralink International customer service centre by email info@terralink.co.nz or phone 0508 483 772. Some map layers will not be available until it is registered.
Moving or Reinstalling the Installed Version
The registered version of Terraview is specific to the machine it is installed on. Terraview will not run on another machine unless the user contacts Terralink to migrate the registration. This is also the case for re-installing the application on the same machine. For a network version, this restriction is only relevant for the server Terraview is installed on.

The projection of the map cursor coordinates within Terraview Platinum can be changed as required by the user. Over 60 different projected and unprojected coordinate systems including all of the New Zealand local circuits (in different Datum’s) are available. These coordinate systems are also available when the user exports the vector data layers.
There are two ways of performing a Terraview Platinum search:
General Search. This is a search performed through a toolbar within the Terraview Platinum window.
Quick Search. This is a search performed from the Tools Toolbar.
Terraview Platinum enables searches to be made for data by a number of different search types as shown below:
Address:
The specific number of the property and its street name and location.
Road Name:
A specific road name.
Appellation:
The Parcel Appellation (or Parcel Description) is an abbreviated version of the legal description of a property. The appellation includes five fields:
Part indicators identify a part or portion of a parcel; it is a two-character field. There is a pop-up menu that provides the two options, PT or null.
Parcel types indicate the type or category of the parcel shown on a survey plan or registered instrument; it can have up to 10 text characters.
The Parcel Value is the numbers or letters allocated to a parcel on a survey plan or registered instrument; it can have up to 54 alphanumeric characters. Parcel Value is a free text field.
The Index Type is the type or category of plan or registration district on which a parcel is depicted or comprised; it can have up to 20 characters. An example is DP (Deposited Plan). Index Type is associated with a lookup table.
The number/name is the plan number or registration district name on which a parcel is depicted or comprised. For searches on appellation, the number/name is mandatory.
The Maori land court minute book reference refers to the location of information pertaining to a property under the jurisdiction of the Maori Land Court. The Minute Book Reference is a free text field and contains volume and folio references so exact references are required for a match. For example, 10AT128 is a reference. 10 refers to the volume while AT128 refers to the folio. Terramatch only has coverage for the Tai Tokerau MLC district at this time. Because of this, it is not necessary to use the prefix TOK or MB (for minute book).
Title:
A properties registered certificate of title.
The CT reference is a number unique to the Land District and refers to its location in the register. For example, 475/287 refers to register 475 and folio 287.
The CT reference is listed on deposited plans as well as on the certificate of title itself. If a valid CT is used as the key field, a single record will be returned.
Attached to the certificate of title is the name of the owner(s) of the title whether they be private or corporate. As part of the conversion of the Land Titles index to the new 'CRS' or 'Core Record System', titles now issued will be in a more standardised format of a straight number (e.g. 15900).
Private Owner:
The name of the private title owner of a property.
Corporate Owner:
The name of the corporate title owner of a property.
VNZ:
The Valuation Assessment Reference is a unique number that identifies a record in the Valuation New Zealand (VNZ) database.
The reference contains three fields:
The roll number refers to the roll on which the record is located. The assessment is a number referring to a specific property on that roll. The suffix is attached to the roll number. For searches on valuation assessment, the roll number and assessment number are mandatory.
Parcel ID:
The Parcel Identifier reference is a unique number that is used by Land Information New Zealand in its Land Base database to identify a parcel of land.
This parcel identifier is commonly referred to as the Static Unique Entity (SUE) in the Core Record System (CRS) Landonline database, or a Static Unique Feature Identifier (SUFI) in the legacy Digital Cadadastral Database (DCDB).
An example is 512345 (CRS) and 1310002217659 (DCDB), which refers to a parcel in the Auckland land district.
Survey Plan:
The survey plan reference points to the location of any survey plans pertaining to a specific property. The survey plan reference contains three fields:
Plan series refers to the series. Two examples are DP (Deposited Plan) and SO (Survey Office). Plan series has a lookup table. Plan number is the number of the plan as recorded in the series. Plan sheets refer to the sheet number if there are more than one sheet.
Territorial Authority:
The name a Territorial Local Authority as defined by Local Government Commission.
Place Names:
Common New Zealand place names, including natural features (e.g. Kapiti Island), suburbs and towns (e.g. Mount Eden) or significant places (Auckland International Airport).
Area Unit:
The name of an Area unit as defined by Statistics New Zealand.
Coordinates:
You can navigate to a specific set of coordinates, provided to Terraview in multiple coordinate systems.
Terraview can build a number of different views of maps by applying different layers to the maps.
The Layers window is selected through the View > Layers and Labels menu. Layers can be selected by clicking on the label required. You can sort layers at the lower levels to provide the view required by dragging and dropping the layers within the layers selection window.
The layers available using Terraview are as follows:
In addition, the following Parcel Label Options are available to enhance parcel data:
Some surveyors have requested the Auckland control layer to be included in Terraview Platinum. Should you wish to have this you can request the shape files from our customer service centre for import into TVP.
You can import several common imagery file types into Terraview (e.g. ECW, MrSid, JPEG2000, and TIFF). As Terraview Platinum vector data is projected as NZMG coordinates the imagery files you import must also be NZMG so they align correctly with the vector layers. Terraview does not support on-the fly imagery reprojection at this time.
